Hello! Just a quick post to show you a freebie I picked up in Superdrug today, so if you’re out last minute shopping you can nip in and take a peek! Superdrug currently have a free gift if you buy any 3 Maybelline cosmetics, and the gift is a cute little boxed duo of nail polish. Ideal stocking filler! There are three sets available, all include a red polish and a glitter topper. I got the gold glitter, but there is also a silver version with hex & bar glitters, and a white glitter. I umm’d and arr’d about which to go for, but the gold seduced me!
Today I’m going to show you two pretty polishes that I picked up at Tesco from a reduced makeup bin. They are both blue, and therefore could not be resisted. First of all, we have Rimmel 60 Second Pillow Talk, which is a gorgeous baby blue crème with a very subtle silver shimmer. The bottle claims this is a one coat polish, but I could still see patches after two. It is a pastel though, so I will forgive it. And it does dry fast. This week the prompts for the pick n mix challenge are domestic animals, and 3 shades of blue. I’m hoping to get both done if I have time – I’m away at the weekend so the blue mani would have to last me a few days… which also means planning my outfits around my nail polish! I’m sure things are supposed to work the other way round… Continue reading “52 week Challenge week 6 – Domestic animals”
The prompts for week 5 of the pick n mix challenge are 80’s or 3 dark colours. Since I’ve dodged doing 60’s and 70’s manis, I thought I’d better have a go at this one! The 80’s was the decade that I became a teenager, started and finished senior school, and got my first job, so its pretty memorable! I had a think about what I remembered about the 80’s – lots of bold, clashy colours, electric blue mascara, leg warmers!, Rubik’s cubes, vhs tapes, cassette tapes, Boy George… I could go on for hours. One of my favourite TV programmes was Fame, and that got me thinking about the 80’s dance wear / exercise wear craze – bright leotards with contrasting belts, and shiny Lycra leggings. And leg warmers of course! So this is what I’ve tried to recreate for my 80’s mani. Continue reading “52 week Challenge week 5 – 80’s!”
Week 4 of the pick n mix challenge is upon us, and I’ve been putting this one off as much as possible! The briefs this week were 70’s, grey and a colour, or a combo of the two. The 70’s didn’t inspire me much – I googled a few patterns which looked OK, but I didn’t have any appropriate colours. I didn’t own a grey polish (unless silver counts?) as I don’t find grey does much for my skin tone. Eventually I caved in, and bought Rimmel Salon Pro Moon. It’s a grey creme. Not finding it inspiring to be honest! Continue reading “52 week Challenge week 4 – Grey and colour”
Time for Crumpet’s Nail Tarts 52 week pic n mix challenge again! This week the brief is to do a 3 colour gradient, or a pink manicure, or combine the two. I’m choosing to do the gradient, and hopefully I’ll have time to do a pink mani later in the week.
