Born Pretty Store stamping review

Hello! Well this is a bit embarrassing… over half way through January and this is my first blog post this year. To be honest, I lost my nail art mojo – and if I’m not doing nail art, I’ve nothing to blog about! I had three bad nail breaks just after Christmas so I ended up cutting them all down to nubs, which made me sad ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I did keep painting them, picking happy sparkly polishes, so there will be some random swatches appearing soon.

Onto today’s post, which is a review of some stamping supplies that Born Pretty Store kindly sent to me. I have a Christmas themed stamper, a Christmas stamping plate, and a stamping polish to show you. Yes, I said Christmas. These were supposed to be reviewed before Christmas 16, so you could all run off and buy them. But unfortunately, they didn’t arrive here until after Christmas. You can always stock up early for this coming December though! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Brace yourself, this is a long post!

So, what do we have?

14 Christmas and winter themed images that should be big enough for most nails. Each image measures 26mm by 16mm. I used two images to create a typical Christmas mani – top row, 2nd from right (stockings & baubles) and bottom row 3rd from left (presents & trees). The base colour is Next Big Apple, stamped with Barry M Gold Foil.

You can see here, even with my nails at their longest, each image is plenty big enough to cover them.

I had no problems picking up each image, and even the larger areas like the presents stamped perfectly.

I used the top middle image in my ugly sweater post, which isย here.

The only image I did have problems with was the bottom left, with the reindeer. I just couldn’t get it to scrape cleanly. Not sure if it was me or the plate, but seeing as all the others were OK, I’ll blame me.

BP-L056 is currently on sale at $2.39. Bargain!

*BORN PRETTY Christmas Nail Art Stamper Starry Sky Set

Born Pretty Store Starry Sky Sticky Silicone Stamper (#36395)

This is a really squishy, sticky marshmallow stamper. I’ve never used one this sticky before! It comes packaged in a little box complete with two scrapers (which I ignored, they are a bit small for my fingers).

Look how squishy it is!

I really liked the purple sparkly head, though it does make it hard to see dark polishes. And as I was testing with a navy blue, I had to guess a bit where the actual polish was when I was stamping my nails. There are different colour choices available – black, purple, blue, green and white, and a choice of this cup or one with a snowman on.

To test out the stamper, I used BP-L056 again, and tried to make a non-festive mani this time. I chose the stars, bottom row, 2nd from the left. It didn’t matter if they weren’t lined up perfectly, so they didn’t need the accuracy of a clear stamper.

Pickup was fantastic, and the image transferred to my nails perfectly. I was very impressed with this stamper, and it will be my goto stamper for anything that doesn’t require lining up! It also worked perfectly straight from the box, no need to clean or prime before use. I do like things that just work.

The Starry Sky stamper currently costs $3.59.

In case you are wondering, the base polish here is Tonic Polish Angelfish, which is utterly beautiful and will get its own post soon.

I’d heard good things about Born Pretty’s stamping polishes, so I was very excited to try one! I chose the dark blue as it’s a colour that I don’t already have a stamping version of. As you may have guessed, I used it to stamp the stars.

It does seem to be a little more see-through than some of my other stamping polishes (you can make out the glitter under the stars) which made me suspect that it wouldn’t show up over black or very dark colours too well. Worked beautifully over Angelfish though. I did a really quick test to check it out:

Not a great photo as it was difficult to get the blue to show up over the black at all! And I dinged it, being my usual epically clumsy self. It does prove that this colour won’t show up well over darker shades though. Keep it for the lighter bases.

Born Pretty Store Dark Blue Stamping Polish is available for $3.99.
