Hi! Today’s #clairestelle8june prompt is a colour, and my favourite – purple! I wanted to do something that used several different shades of purple, so I had a think and finally settled on a waterfall mani. Invented by Sammy at The Nailasaurus, a waterfall mani is a simple but really attractive effect, made with just a striping brush. So here is my first attempt at a waterfall!
What I used:
Nicole by OPI One Big Happy Fame-ily (lilac shimmer)
Many purple polishes (probably six or seven in total, mix of shades and finishes)
Apologies for the photos, but my camera always pulls lilac shades more blue than they should be.
So I started with three coats of One Big Happy Fame-ily and let it dry for a bit. I then applied latex all around my nails, just incase this got messy.
Taking each polish in turn, I dripped a blob onto my mat, then used the striping brush to kind of flick a line starting at my cuticle towards the nail tip. I did four or so flicks of each polish, then at the end, filled in any gaps with my favourite one.
Once the latex was peeled off, and I’d cleaned around my cuticles, a coat of HK Girl Glisten & Glow finished off.
Mine are not as neat as Sammy’s! That’s OK, I can practice more 🙂 I also would have preferred a plain creme base rather than the shimmery One Big Happy Fame-ily, but I couldn’t find one the right colour.

See you soon,
