These photos were taken a couple of days ago, before my new camera battery arrived, so its back to phone pics I’m afraid!
So I had picked up a bottle of ‘Bad Kitty’ from Shades of Phoenix from a car boot sale for the princely sum of 33p, and as soon as I got home, I wanted to try it in a mani. As mentioned before, I believe this was an exclusive shade for an Australian indie polish subscription box (called ‘What’s in-die box?’)
OK, so I said I would be posting a mani featuring Shades of Phoenix ‘Bad Kitty’. But literally as I pressed publish on those words, a package fell through the letterbox containing these two gorgeous polishes, so I had to try them out! Warning, pic heavy post ahead…
Follow any nail polish blog, and you’ll soon have your eyes opened to the world of indie polish makers. Glitters and holos seen to feature heavily – right up my street then! I’ve just ordered my first indie polish (OK, maybe two) from Freckles Polish and I’m anxiously awaiting them to fall through the door. I picked ‘I Need Wine’ and ‘Kicking up Autumn Leaves’. … Continue reading My first Indies!
A couple of days ago, Painted Nails & Baking Scales blogged about the Revlon Parfumerie range being in Poundworld. This reminded me that A) I had a post on a similar subject sitting as a draft (my tablet threw a tantrum and wouldn’t publish it) and B) I needed to go back to Poundworld for another rummage. Their stock turns around pretty quickly. So I … Continue reading Revlon Parfumerie Autumn Spice
So this morning I took off my previous mani (here) only to find bright yellow stains on my nails. They matched up pretty well with where the gold flakes had been from the Barry M Treasure Chest. Such a shame! Just when I’d almost grown out the previous staining too (Sensationail Cabana Boy being the culprit on that occasion). I realise that OPI Nail Envy … Continue reading Stainage!
I wanted to try out one of the polishes that I had picked up for a pound, after some deliberation (eeny-meeny-miny-mo) I settled on Sally Hansen ‘Sparkling Water’. Here it is after two coats – the light was fading so sorry about the pic! No top coat on yet, but look at that baby shine! You can see the blue microglitters, there are also pinky-purple … Continue reading Sally Hansen ‘Sparkling Water’
(Or ‘How to build a stash without the cash’) I’d heard rumours that polish bargains could be found in unusual places, such as Poundland. There is a retail park not too far from me that has a Pound world, TK Maxx, B&M and Poundstretcher, and I had an hour or so spare, so bargain shopping I went! Here’s a pic of the results: Not bad … Continue reading Bargain haul
I visited my local Poundland the other day, mostly to look at the end of line polishes (more about my haul later!) but also to peek at their Pretty range. (Is it just me that thinks Pretty is a naff name for a line of polish?) I veered away from the nail caviar – I am not sprinkling hundreds and thousands over my nails for … Continue reading Poundland graffiti glitter polish
aka Damn, that’s pink! I’d like to say that I didn’t have much idea in mind for this mani, except I wanted to try out stamping. In hindsight, I didn’t choose the greatest colours. The result was uber-pink-girly, which is pretty, but not really me! Because it is gel it will last two weeks, I’m now on day 5 and sick of it! I started … Continue reading Stamping on gel polish
